Library
Our library supports the STM Catholic curriculum and meets the needs of the student body with a well-balanced collection of print and non-print materials. Our goals are to stimulate curiosity; enhance reading and research skills; inspire creative and critical thinking; and provide access to literature and information in both the library and the world beyond.
The library houses a collection of over 12,000 books, periodicals, videos, and a growing collection of CD's and DVD's. The library's new online catalog system, Destiny, can be searched from home or anywhere with internet access. To access Destiny, please click on the link in the right sidebar.
Library Programs
Reading Counts is a measurable independent reading program that motivates student reading and provides feedback to help meet grade level reading goals. This program challenges students to achieve specific individual goals while allowing them to choose books that meet their own interests. Its extensive database of comprehension tests works with the breadth of our existing STM Catholic library resources. Upon a student’s completion of his or her comprehension test, the system provides instant feedback to help inform decisions regarding instruction and special attention.
The Colorado Children's Book Award was established to encourage children's active involvement with books and reading. The CCBA is sponsored by Colorado Council of the International Reading Association. Each February, STM Catholic students join thousands of other students across the state to vote for their favorite book of the 20 nominated books each year. Our students accept this task with honor and responsibility, as they strive to read all the nominated books prior to the vote.
Library Support
Our library collection continues to grow, thanks to the generosity of many donors. The Birthday Book Club is a program through which the library continues to encourage new book donations. To participate in this program, a family chooses to purchase a new book title for the library to honor their student’s birthday. The newly donated book is then permanently labeled as an honorary donation with the student’s name on the inscription.
