Welcome
Dear STM Catholic Alumni,
St. Thomas More Catholic School opened on August 29, 1994, and we are now in our 19th year of providing a safe learning environment that includes rigorous academics and a spiritually-strong Catholic education. There have been fifteen graduating classes, and as a graduate in one of those classes, you are among a larger group known as STM Catholic Alumni. Whether you are in high school, in college, or otherwise pursuing your life’s dream or career, you are welcome to become an active member of this select and honored group of young people!
It’s been said that “Home is where the heart is.” Along with your former teachers and the St. Thomas More parishioners, I hope that you carry in your heart favorable memories of your time spent at STM Cathloic, and that you consider the school and parish your “home.” We treasure you as our own and continue to support you through prayer.
Since 2001 (the year that our first graduating class graduated from high school), the school has been sponsoring STM Alumni Day for High School Seniors, and we have expanded that to welcome alumni who are graduating from college, as well. So, plan on returning to your first “alma mater” four years and eight years after you graduate from STM Catholic for a luncheon and reunion with your K-8 classmates. This is a tradition worth keeping!
Since 2002, the parish has been sponsoring an annual St. Thomas More Alumni Day, held in June in conjunction with the celebration of the Feast of St. Thomas More. Generally, it begins with Mass at 5:30 P.M. and, following Mass, there is a barbeque reception in the courtyard. Church pews and courtyard tables are reserved especially for alumni. Closer to the date, check this website, www.stmcatholic.org for more detailed information.
It is my hope that our new website will be a tool for us to keep in touch. I hope to hear from you, and with your permission, to share your “life story” with our school and parish community. It is my hope, and that of our pastor, Father Andrew Kemberling, to begin a formal STM Alumni Association with a representative from each class. Please contact me at barbaram@stthomasmore.org and say that you will be the one to answer the call and get the association up and running! I can’t wait to hear from you!
Of course, you are welcome to come ‘home” for a visit at any time. In the meantime, may you recall fond memories and lasting friendships from your time spent at St. Thomas More Catholic School. And, most importantly, may God bless you and keep you in His loving care.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Barb Markulik
Middle School Assistant Principal
