Week of January 7-11, 2019
Happy New Year!! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Break!
Thank you so much to all the second grade parents who contributed to the STM Christmas Fund!! I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.
Week at a Glance:
Math-we will be working on multiplication, with 2s, 5s, and 10s, utilizing the strategies of verbal and finger skip counting. Students will also be solving multiplication word problems.
Open Court-we are learning about antonyms and synonyms. We are working on the Comprehension Strategies: Clarifying and Visualizing, Cause and Effect, Sequencing, Use of Language in a text, and Fluency. Phonics-reading words with ow, oa, o, and o_e. Story: “Flower Power”
Religion– we are learning that the Ten Commandments are a guide to help us make right choices. The first three Commandments tell us how to love God. The other seven Commandments tell us how to love others.
Science–we will be wrapping up our chapter about rocks, minerals, and soil and how they are used as well as how people can take care of natural resources. We will be starting a new science chapter about weather near the end of the week.
