Dear Second Grade Families:
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! It was great seeing all of the families that attended parent-teacher conferences. It’s always great to speak to you about your child’s progress!
We will have a Social Studies test this Tuesday; a Math test this Thursday; Spelling test this Thursday. Our spelling homework will be due this Thursday as usual. There will be no school this Friday due to a teacher in-service day.
Please continue to review multiplication and division flash cards with your child as well as reviewing time on clocks. Thank you for support!

Week at a Glance:
Math-We will prepare for our math test by telling time while using the minute hand; tell time in hours and minutes; use both am and pm to show morning, afternoon, and night; determine how much time has passed; write the digital time to match the analog clock. After our test we will start money: coins and bills.
Open Court-we will continue to blend words and build oral language skills and fluency skills; sound: oo. study prefixes: pre and mis; learn about possessive nouns. edit and proofread his/her informative texts; obtain a visual for informational text; produce final copies of informative texts; Read “Winston and George and A Brand-New American Family; apply comprehensive strategies; asking and answering questions and making connections; investigate comparisons and contrasts; sequence; cause and effects; characters; events in a story; understand the author’s purpose; recognize sequence of events; visualize and ask and answer questions; fact and opinion; word and sentence dictation; and continue daily work in journals.
