Dear Second Grade Families:
I hope the second grade families all had an amazing Summer break! Last week we tested and started to acclimate to second grade. The students seem very excited for second grade! May God bless all of the entering second graders and their families. I look forward to seeing you all at Back to School night, Wednesday September 4th., 6:00 p.m.
As an ongoing second grade habit, please review addition/subtraction flash cards with your child. Keep in mind that we will be moving into multiplication and division soon as well. Please also keep reviewing time and money with reading and writing daily for 20 minutes. Thank you for support!
We will start right into our curriculum this week. We will have spelling homework sent out every Friday to be returned the following Thursday with a spelling test given every Friday. Their spelling words will be written weekly in the assignment notepad to study from. We will have math worksheets going home for homework once we finish a section in math often to be returned the following day. Please look at your child’s assignment notepad each night with instructions for homework and notes from the classroom. Feel free to also send notes back via the assignment notepad. Please initial on the right side of the assignment notepad and return the next day. All Fridays will be STM spirit dress day! Please wear any STM shirt and jeans or uniform bottoms.
Second grade is a great year of transition. The students will be working on new skills and expanding on the old skills. They will be required to work independently as well. This is a fantastic year with great learning in preparation for third grade on the horizon! Together this will be a wonderful year!
