Religion

Today we will begin our in-depth studies of the 7 Sacraments.  This week will be a general overview of the Sacraments and then we will begin with Baptism next week.  On Friday of this week, students will be helping to construct a quilt for a newly baptized child. We will be giving the quilt to the church office and they will be gifting it to a family that is going through the Baptismal process.  We will be using fabric markers for this project, so if  you would like to donate fabric markers to the classroom, that would be greatly appreciated – I just ask that they are brought to school by Thursday at the latest.  Thank you!

Math

We will begin Chapter 4 today – Multiplying fractions.  Please encourage your child to keep practicing their math facts – adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing…they can use flashcards, an app on a device, etc.  It is VITAL they know their facts to ensure success in the future.

Science

This week, we will continue chapter 9 and begin discussing and categorizing rocks and the Rock Cycle.

We will also continue work on the Volcano project this week.  Next week, we will be working on constructing the volcanoes, so all materials need to be to school by THIS Friday.  Students will be collaborating on how they will be building their volcano and with what materials today, so they should be bringing their list of needed materials home today.  For this particular project, I am asking for volunteers to help with the construction of the volcanoes.  If you are willing and able to help, please click on the Sign-Up Genius link below to see the dates and times that I am needing help.  Thank  you!!!

Social Studies

This week we will wrap up chapter 4 with a test on Thursday the 17th (MAYBE Friday the 18th for 5B).  All students were given a study guide last week and it is due on Tuesday 1/15.  We will be going over the answers on Tuesday so all kiddos should be ready to go!  The test DOES include their 21 vocabulary words; there is a Quizlet link on my resource page to help study those words.
