In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised holy Spirit.
Confirmation is the sacrament of initiation in which a baptized Catholic, through prayers, imposition of hands and the anointing with chrism, receives a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit that completes Baptismal grace. This sacrament impresses a character, and by it the baptized, continuing on the path of Christian initiation, are enriched by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and bound more perfectly to the Church. It strengthens them and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses to Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith! The confirmation process helps the candidate prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation through the evangelizing and catechizing opportunities they offer.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the 2019 Confirmation classes! All current baptized 5th graders who have received their First Communion are invited to register for the upcoming Confirmation Classes! Classes run from March to November, so be sure to sign up soon! The registration deadline is Monday, February 25th. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Catechesis at 303-770-0531

This week we will continue our in-depth studies of the 7 Sacraments, with our focus being Baptism. Last week, I mentioned that we would be making a Baptismal quilt as part of our study of Baptism. That project was postponed and will be completed within the next couple of weeks. Instead of working on the quilt last Friday, all 5th graders participated in praying a Divine Mercy Chaplet with the specific intention for Ms. Heslin and her son, Tripp. We ask that you continue to keep Ms. Heslin and her family in your close prayers and ask for our Mother Mary to keep them close in her heart.
We will continue chapter 4 this week. We will be working on multiplying mixed numbers and then go in to dividing fractions. Last week’s quizzes were not stellar – mainly because the students are NOT SIMPLIFYING their answers!!! I remind them constantly about the importance of simplifying, but I am asking you to remind them as well. With your child, please take a look at and go over the quizzes as they come home. This class will be having another quiz (VERY similar to this past one) by Friday of this week.
This week, we will continue chapter 9 and begin discussing and categorizing rocks and the Rock Cycle.
We will also continue work on and completing (hopefully :)) the Volcano project this week. All materials should have been brought to school last week. Construction will be this Thursday and Friday, with presentations next week. For this particular project, I am asking for volunteers to help with the construction of the volcanoes. If you are willing and able to help, please click on the Sign-Up Genius link below to see the dates and times that I am needing help. Thank you!!!
We will begin chapter 5 this week! We are all very excited to learn about the Revolutionary War! One of my favorite parts of this chapter is our Battles Project! Students will reconstruct a specific battle and create a display showing the turning point to the battle. I will be asking for materials (again, I know – but remember, it beats doing the entire project at home!) in a different manner this time. I will be creating a sign up with all materials needed for both classes. This way you can pick and choose what your child will bring in. I should have this created early next week.
