LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK

RELIGION – We began working on our Stations of the Cross booklet, completing Station #1-Jesus Is Condemned To Die and Station 2-Jesus Takes Up His Cross.

We discussed the question: “During Lent, how can we be more generous?”

MATH – Last week we began Chapter 11, Picture Graphs and Bar Graphs. We completed the chapter opener and pre-test on Monday. We completed Lessons 1-3.   Vocabulary included: data, picture graph, more, most, fewest, and fewer.

LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 9, Lesson 1 we learned the prefixes un- and dis-Our Read Aloud stories this week were Raising the Flag, Patriotism and This Land is Your Land. Reading skills that we worked on included making connections and summarizing. We learned that adding an –ed to most verbs will show that something has already happened before or in the past. We learned that if we add –s to the verb it is happening now, or in the present. We also discussed that some verbs are different because they don’t use –ed to show that something already happened. We read decodable book 103 and it went home last week. I hope they continue to read to you at home!

SOCIAL STUDIES – We began Unit 5, Good Citizens and identified leaders at the town, state, and national levels. We learned what a law is and how people and the government work together to make laws.
