LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
VIRTUE OF THE MONTH: Honesty – being trustworthy and true
SAINTS OF THE MONTH: Blessed Francesco Marto and Blessed Jacinta Marto
MATH – We learned about comparing 2 things (tall/taller, short/shorter, long/longer) and learned about comparing more than 2 things (tallest, shortest, longest). We learned about using a start line.
LANGUAGE ARTS – In Unit 7, Lesson 2 we isolated sounds in words and generated words that contain m spelled mb, n spelled kn and gn, r spelled r and wr, and f spelled ph. Our Read Aloud stories this week were Pond Plants and Fruits and Vegetables at Work. Reading skills that we worked on included main ideas and details and author’s purpose. We learned that possessive pronouns take the place of nouns and that possessive pronouns also show ownership. We read decodable book 85-89.
SCIENCE – We learned why the Sun is important for life on Earth. We discussed the effects of Earth’s rotation and orbit around the Sun. We watched a video called The Sun, A Real Star.
