LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
RELIGION – In Lesson 2, Creation, we learned that God is love and He made us out of love. We learned that there are different kinds of love such as love for our parents, our siblings, and other family members. We discussed that God’s love is bigger, deeper, and greater than any kind of love. We learned that we are created to love God and, through him, to love everyone else.
MATH – In Chapter 1, we used cube towers to make number patterns, and solved less than and greater than number problems.
READING – In Unit 1, Lesson 1 we isolated sounds in words and generated words with initial and final s and t sounds. Our Read Aloud story this week was First Grade Stinks by Mary Ann Rodman. Reading skills that we worked on included: comprehension, compare and contrast, and character. We read decodable books 5-8 and they went home throughout the week. They promised me they would read them to you!
HANDWRITING – We practiced writing upper and lower case letters.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We discussed how we depend on people in our community, and learned why people move from one place to another.
