Please be sure to join us for Back to School night THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT, September 5th at 6:00 p.m.  The evening begins in the gym and will continue in the Small Cafeteria after dismissal from the gym.  This is for 5th grade only.  Middle school teachers will be in their respective classrooms after dismissal from the gym.  Mrs. Wolf and I have a joint presentation that we will be going through that will explain several policies, procedures, and general information.   We will be having TWO presentation times, so be sure to grab a schedule when you come in the front doors tomorrow night to see the times and rotations.

We will do our best to answer all questions DURING our presentation.  Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we ask that all individual questions be emailed to us and we will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.  Thank you!

Religion

This week, we will begin discussing the Blessed Trinity and Creation.  We have a new workbook this year, so I would ask that you take a few moments and look over it with your child when they bring it home.  Lectio Divina Week #2 was assigned to day and will be due on Friday, September 7th.

Math

DeWolfe:  This week, we will be spending some time on reviewing some of the concepts learned in the past.  We will begin with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  We will be working in small groups so I can target student needs and to avoid boredom if the students are understanding concepts well.  We will also be working on numbers to 10,000,000, rounding and estimating.  Students can anticipate a small quiz later this week.

Science

We have been studying plant and animal cells in class since last week and will continue this week.  Students will have their first vocabulary test on Friday, September 7th.  There is a Quizlet already made that the students can use to study.  It is called “Science – Chapter 2 Vocabulary” and can be found under my username of “gdewolfe”.We will also be working IN CLASS on making a cell model next week.  Students will need to bring in supplies by Monday AT THE LATEST.  They started working in groups last week, but will finish up today and tomorrow so they should have their needed supplies to you by then.  Thank you in advance for your help with this!  Here is the link for the Quizlet: https://quizlet.com/_3msdf7.  I have also posted it on my Teacher Page.

Social Studies

This week, we will continue our study of Geography and the 5 Themes of Geography.  Students can anticipate a test next week, but I will sure to give advance notice for studying purposes.
