Erica Shumsky

HOLA, and BIENVENIDOS to LA CLASE DE ESPAÑOL!  This is my second year teaching at St. Thomas More and I’m very happy to be here. My family and I have been parishioners since moving to the area 6 years ago and we are proud to be members of this wonderful school community.  Before joining the STM team, I taught middle school at Colorado Academy for six years, middle and high school at The Pinnacle Charter School in Federal Heights for one year, and at Elizabeth High School for four years. I earned my BA at the University of Denver with a double major in Spanish and English, completed my Spanish Secondary Education coursework at Metropolitan State College of Denver, and my MA in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language, Literacy and Culture at the University of Colorado.

I feel very fortunate to work with such a dedicated group of faculty members, administrators, and parents here at STM.  The reason that I choose to teach intermediate and middle school grades above all others is that I get to witness firsthand the tremendous level of growth that I see students undergo throughout the years.  It is truly rewarding for me when I see students really come into their own over the course of grades 4 to 8. I look forward to meeting all of you and working collaboratively with you to ensure a successful school experience.
